The Beaufort Sound Hearing and Balance center is a locally owned audiology clinic located in Beaufort, SC, under the care of Dr. Larry Bridge.
Dr. Bridge received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from East Carolina University and his Doctorate of Audiology from Louisiana Tech University in 2009. He and his wife, Megan, have raised their three daughters here in Beaufort over the past six years.
In January of this year, he finally reached a major personal and professional goal of opening his own private practice. When asked what he loves most about living in and serving the people of Beaufort County and surrounding areas, and Dr. Bridge explained, “Beaufort is a special slice of paradise. I love the ‘laid back’ lifestyle and feel of the town. It suits me perfectly. I have had the pleasure of meeting so many wonderful individuals since moving here, and I love chatting with and hearing stories from patients, as well as being able to serve them so that I can bring clarity and the ability to hear the world back into their lives.”
Dr. Bridge has a mission to improve the day-to-day lives of his patients by providing quality, individualized care and treatment for hearing loss, dizziness and tinnitus. His vision is not only to improve his patients’ hearing and balance, but to also help them reconnect with family and friends. Dr. Bridge stated, “From a hearing healthcare standpoint, I think it is important for patients to know that when they come into the office, they are seeing a Doctor of Audiology. I completed eight years of schooling and am trained to diagnose, treat and monitor disorders of the hearing and balance system.”
“Furthermore, I have practiced audiology for over ten years in every audiological setting. There are a lot of individuals and marketing campaigns out there designed to get individuals in the door with free screenings or cheap products, but I urge everyone to research the individual that they are seeing before their appointment. Do not let the “white coats” or big ads fool you. Make sure you are seeing an audiologist so that you receive the best care possible,” he adds.
“I think what separates our office from the rest is how at ease our patients feel when they walk into the office or sit down in front of me. You have that sense of calmness when you walk through our doors and a lot of that credit goes to my office manager, Logan Green. She has worked in healthcare for over 10 years and is by far the best at what she does. Her demeanor transfers a sense of comfort and warmness to patients who really feel at ease when they come to the office,” explains Dr. Bridge.
The Beaufort Sound sees patients from newborns to adults for various audiological evaluations and are in the process of setting up videonystagmography (VNG) equipment to help find and treat the cause of vertigo and imbalance problems.
“I want each and every one out there who may deal with hearing loss, tinnitus, and vertigo to know that there is help. Do not ever think that ‘nothing can be done to improve my problem’ or ‘this is as good as it gets.’ There is always something that can be done to improve your quality of life and we are always here to help,” said Dr. Bridge passionately.
