Hilarious Musical SPAMALOT on September 21
USCB Center for the Arts Opens the 2019-20 Season with the Hilarious Musical SPAMALOT on September 21
The USCB Center for the Arts is gearing up for its most ambitious season yet, beginning with the hilarious and often irreverent Spamalot! This crowd pleaser, based on the cult classic film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, offers classic jokes from Rude Frenchmen to Killer Rabbits, as well as new additions such as the Lady of the Lake-complete with her squad of Laker Girls.
Fans of the movie will be thrilled to see all of their favorite scenes and lines brought to life on stage! Even those unfamiliar with the comedy stylings of Eric Idle and the other members of Monty Python will love the quirky musical parody of King Arthur and his infamous quest that captivated Broadway, winning the Tony for Best New Musical in 2005.
The Beaufort Theatre Company is thrilled to welcome back Josh Wall as Music Director and Christopher Crabb as Choreographer, who recently collaborated on both Nunsense the Mega-Musical and last year’s Mamma Mia. Libby Ricardo joins forces with her husband and fellow USCB theater professor, George Pate, to direct Spamalot. “We’re elated to be working with such a talented group of individuals who are so dedicated to bringing Beaufort quality entertainment.” Ricardo continues, “These productions make clear why Beaufort is such an incredible place to live. The community enjoys coming together.”
The Spamalot cast features both long time Beaufort favorites as well as some talented new faces. Leading the quest as King Arthur is Beaufort Theatre Company newcomer, Wes Campbell. The king is accompanied on stage by his loyal sidekick, Patsy, played by Greg Rawls. A BTC veteran, Greg is pulling double duty (once again) on stage and as set designer/builder. Rounding out the motley crew of knights is Jennifer Ford as the dashingly handsome Sir Galahad, Noah Krepps as the homicidally brave Sir Lancelot, Dakota Wright as the not-so-brave Sir Robin, Carl Linke as Sir Bedevere, and the fabulous K. Leigh Campbell as the Lady of the Lake.
Spamalot production dates are September 21, 27, 28 at 7:30 PM and September 22 and 29 at 3 PM. Ticket prices are $25 adults, $20 seniors and military, and $15 students.
Beaufort Children’s Theatre productions are Mary Poppins, Jr. (November 22-24) and Seussical, the Musical, Jr. (May 15-17). The 2019-2020 season will end with Beaufort Theatre Company’s production All Shook Up (June 6-7, 12-14, 2020).
Our regularly scheduled programming continues with The Met Opera Series beginning October 12 with Puccini’s Turandot and National Theatre Live events continuing 1-2 times each month on Sundays at 3 pm.
Monday Night is Movie Night at CFA, films start at 7 pm.
