Realtors Giving Back to the Community
For months, healthcare and law enforcement professionals have stepped up to rescue our nation. Now our Educators and Students are true heroes in their “Back-to-School” efforts. The new norm is challenging and will undeniably affect our children in the future.
Questions and scenarios about what it will be like for students and their teachers when they return to the classroom swirled around anyone involved in the school system. When Paul Jernigan, a local realtor with Carolina Realty of the Lowcountry, learned from his wife, Lynda Jernigan, media specialist at Mossy Oaks Elementary School, that all school employees would be required to wear masks he thought about how sterile and cold that would be to the children. Students are not accustomed to seeing their teachers in face masks. He saw a news story about a school in the northeast, facing the same health concerns for their teachers and students. He wanted buttons made for the school staff with a headshot of the person that they could wear, showing the students what they looked like without their masks. What a great idea! Paul contacted Spectrum Graphics, a local graphics/printing company, that was happy to assist.
Michelle Sackman, the principal of Mossy Oaks Elementary, jumped on board and was very excited. Tina Johnson, the assistant principal of Mossy Oaks, was instrumental in taking pictures of the staff. Mike Sackman, another local realtor, volunteered to assist in the cost of the project. Paul Jernigan and Mike Sackman were excited to present these buttons to the Mossy Oaks Elementary staff and are excited to hear how much the staff and students enjoy the buttons.
