Festival of Trees is on the Road for 2020
Friends of Caroline Hospice
The year 2020 has looked a lot different than other years for everyone. Most events have been postponed or canceled until we are allowed to gather in large crowds safely. Some events have been reimagined as the non-profit organization that proceeds benefit is still in need of funds to continue their mission.
The beloved Festival of Trees cannot happen as in previous years because of safety guidelines, but an opportunity by the Habersham Community to “take the show on the road” was presented to FRIENDS of Caroline Hospice as a way to keep the festival going and raise funds for this important cause. Instead of the traditional event week, Holiday fun that is safe and open to all has been planned for the next several weeks.
2020 Southern Living Showcase Home – A special collaboration with Southern Living magazine and the Southern Living Custom Builder Program brings the opening of this special home built with innovative quality, functionality, and an elevated interior design, featuring the iconic colors and textures of the Lowcountry to Habersham. This single-story cottage, designed by Bridgewater and built by Allen Patterson Residential Builders, will feature interior design by K.Lo Style & Design. The home will be open to the public for tours November 4 – 25, Wednesdays through Sundays from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. The home will reopen fully redecorated for the Holidays December 2 – 27 (closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day). Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased online at habershamsc.com/showcase-home. A portion of all ticket sales goes to benefit FRIENDS of Caroline Hospice.
The annual Huckleberry Home Pop-up Christmas Tree lot in Habersham will open on November 27. A portion of all tree sales will be donated to FRIENDS of Caroline Hospice.
Festival of Trees will be a self-guided driving/walking tour through Habersham for the month of December. Decorated trees will be placed outside of participating residences and businesses. Drive through the neighborhood of Habersham and view the beautiful homes and trees. Tour takers are asked to be respectful of private property and not approach any homes. The Marketplace businesses provide a great walking experience for viewing trees and open for your shopping and dining pleasure. There is no fee for the self-guided tour, however, there will be plenty of opportunities to donate to FRIENDS of Caroline Hospice online and inside businesses at Habersham Marketplace. Thank you to sponsors: Beaufort Memorial Hospital, Blackstones Café, Griswold Homecare, Lynn & Wheeler, CPAs, PA, Habersham Row, Southern Tree Services, and Small Business Solutions for continuing to support this event and FRIENDS of Caroline Hospice.
In 1977, a group of volunteers came together to provide care to Caroline Sue Quann. At a young age, Caroline was diagnosed with a terminal illness and in order to honor her wishes to be at home for her final days and die with dignity, her friends resolved to provide her with companionship and medical care. This marked the founding of FRIENDS of Caroline Hospice, the first hospice organization in Beaufort County. Today, FRIENDS provides care to Beaufort, Jasper, Colleton, and Hampton Counties. Services include Palliative Care, Hospice Care, and Grief Support, and the organization is building the area’s first Hospice House. FRIENDS of Caroline Hospice is committed to providing the highest quality care to patients and families of those suffering from a life-limiting illness. No patient or family receives a bill, regardless of the ability to pay. The organization proudly holds the Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission of Accreditation and is licensed through South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control and Centers for Medicaid and Medicare.
