Seven December Events Hosted by the Pat Conroy Literary Center
The nonprofit Pat Conroy Literary Center is dedicated to preserving and continuing the legacy of the late Pat Conroy (1945-2016), beloved bestselling author of The Water Is Wide, The Great Santini, The Prince of Tides, and more. The Conroy Center is open for free public tours Thursday through Sunday from noon to 4:00 p.m. (except during holiday closures) at 601 Bladen Street in historic downtown Beaufort.”
In addition, the Conroy Center hosts year-round educational programs highlighting local and visiting authors. In December, the Center will host the following special events:
Wednesday, December 4, 6:00-7:00 p.m.
An evening with memoirist and cancer survivor William “Billy” Douglas, author of Hope Is All I Have, at the Conroy Center. Books will be available for sale and signing. Please call 843-379-7025 to reserve in advance for this free event.
Saturday, December 7, 9:30 a.m.-Noon
Teddy Bear Picnic community read-aloud, hosted by DAYLO (Diversity Awareness Youth Literacy Organization) at the Port Royal Farmers Market at Naval Heritage Park. Also featuring Read with a Ranger, with National Park Service Ranger Katherine Freeman reading from Natalie Daise’s Okra Stew and leading a corresponding holiday art project. Free and open to young readers and their families.
