Sit Down With Miranda Garvin, Owner of Living Color Salon & Spa in Habersham
What was the inspiration behind Living Color Salon & Spa?
I founded Living Color Salon in 2015. I never wanted my guests to feel like “just another client” walking through the doors of a bustling salon. I aspired to provide a humble space with a cozy southern atmosphere, where every guest would know and feel like they mean the world to me.
I also wanted to hand-select the AMAZING group of women to work and share creativity with. This industry can be extremely competitive and very caddy. This is not how our tribe works at Living Color; we are a sisterhood looking to encourage personal health and growth, to help financially support our families, and lift each other up while making our guests feel and look their absolute BEST!
What does collaboration mean to you and your business?
Collaboration is imperative at Living Color Salon & Spa. We are so blessed to be in an environment where our businesses can come together and put on events that allow us to flow more cohesively, not just for ourselves but for our guests visiting the Marketplace. We love participating with other Habersham shops and offices to create something fun and eclectic that makes our visitors keep coming back for more.
Collaboration is also a huge part of our everyday lives at Living Color. Every color formula, every facial, and every massage are uniquely tailored for each and every one of our clients. This is almost always done through collaboration between ourselves as a tribe and with the educated input of our guests. This is a truly unifying force. We would not have strong teamwork or be the thriving business that we currently are without that partnership in and outside of the Salon & Spa.
What aspect of your business are you most devoted to?
With each changing season, our focus at Living Color shifts just a little to the next area that needs caring for. The first year was dedicated to growing the brand and building strong relationships. The last few years have been dedicated to growing our tribe and carefully choosing the perfect product lines for our guests.
I am now shifting focus on growing the awareness of the Spa that we opened in December of 2019. Needless to say, the Covid-19 pandemic has greatly affected the spa industry. My staff and I work diligently to find ways to pivot the business and bring awareness to the strict sanitary regiment that we have put in place for the safety of our guests and staff.
What are you most grateful for as your business has grown?
Words cannot begin to describe the amount of gratitude that I have for the support that has been given to me by my loyal guests, my amazing team, my friends, and my family. None of this would be possible without them. YOU all make it possible, and I want to thank YOU!
I am most grateful for the unwavering support that I have received from my husband. Daniel spent countless nights burning the midnight oil to get the Salon up and running while working crazy hours at his job in Savannah and tending to my pregnant needs! He spent even more time creating a beautiful Spa for our guests last year while starting his own business in Port Royal. Our children are toddlers now, and Daniel and I are truly team parenting!
It has been amazing to watch our business flourish a little more with each passing year. We can’t wait to present what we have in store in 2021 for our incredible guests, our fantastic staff, and our little family.
